 Bibi Heal

Bibi Heal graduated from the University of East Anglia with a First Class degree in Music, and completed her postgraduate studies at the Royal Academy of Music. She went on to study with Graeme Danby and Jonathan Papp, and has been working recently in several private masterclasses with Dame Kiri Te Kanawa.
Her opera engagements include Mary Turner in Gershwin’s Of Thee I Sing and Let ‘em Eat Cake, Masha in Shostakovich’s Paradise Moscow and Barbarina (Marriage of Figaro) for Opera North, Gretel (Tansy Davies’ Elephant & Castle) for Aldeburgh Festival, Princess Sophie in the premiere of Jonathan Dove’s The Two Hearts of Kwasi Boachi for Opera O.T. in The Netherlands, Euridice (Orfeo ed Euridice) for Ryedale Festival, Susanna (Marriage of Figaro), and Gretel (Hansel & Gretel) for Eastern Opera, and Barbarina (Le Nozze di Figaro) for Gstaad Festival alongside Barbara Bonney and Gerald Finley. She has taken part in many collaborative projects, including Essence (Opera North / Walker Dance Park Music), Don Giovanni (Opera North / Kneehigh Theatre), Echo & Narcissus, (Cathy Marsden / ROH2), and La Boheme (English National Opera). She also performed Stephen McNeff’s The Names of the Dead with the Ensemble of Opera North for the Fuse Leeds Contemporary Music Festival, and sang Fairy in the Royal Ballet’s production of Mendelssohn’s The Dream at The Royal Opera House as part of the Ashton 100 Celebrations.
Oratorio performances include Mendelssohn Elijah and Elgar The Apostles in the Barbican Concert Hall, Holst Choral Symphony in Glasgow City Hall, Handel Saul for Opera North, Brahms Ein Deutsches Requiem in Arundel Cathedral, Mozart Mass in C Minor in York Minster, Dvorák Te Deum in Guildford Cathedral, Handel Messiah in Chichester Cathedral, Haydn The Creation in St John’s Smith Square, and Mozart Exsultate, Jubilate for Henley Festival. On the concert platform, recent performances include a gala with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Strauss Four Last Songs in Brighton Dome conducted by Paul Daniel, and Fauré Requiem in Westminster Cathedral with the Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by Pierre-André Valade. Recent oratorio engagements include Elijah in York Minster, The Apostles in St Albans Abbey, Messiah in St Nicholas’ Chapel, Kings Lynn, and Haydn Nelson Mass in Christchurch Priory.
